RICHMOND LIBRARY

Another fantastic International Women's Day spent writing women artists from our collection into history on Wikipedia.

Our IWD Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon was hosted this year by the Richmond branch of Yarra Libraries on Saturday 6 March. After a long year of no in-person events, it was so wonderful to be working together in real life with a group of hugely dedicated, enthusiastic people. Congratulations on the incredible work done by the team on the day who added over 20,000 words on women artists, designers and architects.

Enormous thanks to Wikimedia Australia (Pru Mitchell, Amanda Lawrence and Alex Lum) for training us, Yarra Libraries for hosting us, Wikimedia Foundation for research funding support and to our passionate volunteers, members and new friends!

Our group of 18 editors generated excellent results:

  • 9 articles created

  • 22 articles edited

  • 347 total edits

  • 18 editors

  • 20K words added

  • 137 references added
