Women sitting at desks in a library working on laptops

RICHMOND LIBRARY

Big thanks to our dedicated editors for writing women artists into history at our 2022 International Women's Day Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon! We achieved some of our best results to date.

Hosted again this year by the Richmond branch of Yarra Libraries on Saturday 12 March, our friends at Wikimedia Australia provided plenty of training and support on the day (and free caffeine!) to enable us to make some excellent progress.

The participants on the day produced new articles on artists including Lesley Hall, Judith Wright (visual artist), Yvonne Boyd, Jeannie Pwerle, Claire Lambe, Heather B. Swann, Diena Georgetti and the Women's Domestic Needlework Group, as well as updates to a number of other articles and wikidata, drawn from the artist files and library of the Women's Art Register.

Our group of 16 editors generated outstanding results:

  • 40 articles created

  • 439 articles edited

  • 874 total edits

  • 16 editors

  • 78.8K words added

  • 234 references added
