2024 Artist-in-Residence: Gail Harradine
ANNOUNCING OUR 2024 ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
We are excited to announce Gail Harradine as the Women’s Art Register x Seventh 2024 Artist Residency recipient!
Gail will begin her residency in Richmond in April, commencing with a guided research period at W.A.R, then undertaking a studio residency at Seventh Gallery, integrating the research into her artistic practice.
Born in Dimboola, Wotjobaluk visual artist, curator and teacher, Gail Harradine has long made reference to the Wimmera and Grampians/Gariwerd region within her work and has been involved in numerous exhibitions throughout Australia. She practices across painting, printmaking, silver-smithing and employs photography as a conceptual tool within her work. Gail is also a practicing curator in Melbourne. She has an enduring interest in supporting other South Eastern Australian Aboriginal artists in promotion of culture in their region.
Currently exhibiting at Horsham Regional Art Gallery, Gail has also been nominated for awards such as the Wyndham Art Prize and the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards, and won the Dr Alister Hinchley Acquisitive Art Award in 2013.
As the first local Indigenous artist in the Horsham Regional Art Gallery Collection, her influence extends nationally, with works held in collections such as the National Library of Australia, City of Melbourne and University of Melbourne.
